I would assume it's a good thing strictly to aid against rust. Nothing thick...just a thin spray of high temp paint I would imagine would be MUCH better than just leaving it bare metal to the elements. It's not something you see at all...but to aid against rust I've always thought it was a good thing to do. Maybe I'm wrong?
